Specific Impulse Releases StageOne 4.0™ eMarketing and eBusiness Solutions

New Features Focus on Workflow, Extensibility, HTML-Generation, and Improved Templates

San Jose, California - January 10, 2004 - Specific Impulse today released StageOne™ 4.0, with new features for web site and extranet content workflow, improved templates, and extensibility features that enable web developers to extend StageOne using their own Macromedia® ColdFusion® CFML code.

The workflow system lets the administrator assign owner, author, and reviewer roles to StageOne users. As web pages or documents are added to the system, they can be queued in the notification-based workflow process. "This is of great advantage to distributed teams, and is part of our "transparent collaboration" philosophy that helps move content through the system without getting lost," said Specific Impulse CTO Chester M. Regen PhD.

Extensibility is a key component of this release, whcih includes improved CFML templates and the ability to embed CFML code, known as "snippets," into web page content. The new templates are more dynamic, and make better use of web site boilerplate, now stored in a Boilerplate module. The Boilerplate module can serve as a central store for store obvious items, like copyright and trademark notices, but is also useful for setting global variables and other common elements, like images, colors, stylesheets, meta-tags, and javascript functions.

Web page template management has also been improved, making it easier to put entire web sites under StageOne administration in just a few days, and enabling customers to manage almost any number of web pages.

The HTML Site Generation feature enables developers to generate a completely static snapshot of a dynamic, CFM-based site. "This system came out of our CD-ROM generating utility, used to snapshot product and document catalogs onto CD-ROM," reports Specific Impulse president Rich Julius. "But we realized that some companies wanted the reliability of HTML on their web sites, even though they maintain dynamic, database-driven content in StageOne. It also enabled us to offer a hosted control panel that serves the needs of businesses that do not have an application server on their web site."

Available either through a site license or as a subscription-based hosted application, the StageOne system is designed for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) who want the power, but not the price tag or complexity, of enterprise eBusiness automation systems.

StageOne automates a full range of marketing tasks, from self-publishing web content to managing collateral to launching an email campaign. Conceived as a marketing automation system rather than simple web page editing software, StageOne is designed to encapsulate a company's marketing best practices.

Core features with significant improvements include a highly sophisticated classification taxonomy system capable of driving complex business logic with simple controls, advanced security features, and improved content scheduling and archiving controls.

StageOne is available today, direct from Specific Impulse. For more information contact info@si9.com or call 1-800-470-0043.
