With over fifteen years experience in digital communication, user interface design, and information architecture, Rich Julius is one of the foremost experts in the design of corporate web sites and web-based applications. His specialty is designing usability into web interfaces while adhering to principles of goal-focused design, where user goals are placed in perspective against key business goals.

Currently a partner in Crimson Consulting Group, Rich has helped define information architecture for some of the world's leading technology companies. In the 1990's he served as a project manager at PeopleSoft, Director of User Assistance at Oracle Corporation, Director of Knowledge Systems at Informix Software, Director of Consulting Engineering at Perspecta, and Information Architect at Marketing Solutions Software (MS2).

As Chief Information Architect, Rich has spent over five years designing, building, and maintaining major corporate intranets, extranets, portals, and web applications for companies ranging from high-tech giants Applied Materials, Cisco Systems, Harmonic Inc., Seagate Technologies, and Verizon, to more traditional companies in insurance, real estate, and health.

In addition to serving as chairman and past-president of Specific Impulse, Rich is chairman and managing director of EireBusiness International, Ireland's largest eBusiness community web portal, whose EireBiz.com property received European Union grant funding through the South Cork Enterprise Board in 2005-06.

Founder of UC Berkeley Extension's Technical Communication program in 1995, Rich went on to teach Digital Communication and Information Architecture courses for UCBE for over five years. He also served for three years as President of the Berkeley chapter of the Society for Technical Communication.

Rich holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan, where he later served on the faculty of the Department of English before his career in Silicon Valley high-tech.
