Dr. Chester M. Regen PhD, Web Application Architect

A seasoned web application and database architect, project manager, and scientist, Chester has extensive web technology expertise and over 20 years of programming experience. He is a Certified ColdFusion Developer and has trained numerous developers in best practices for CFML coding. A veteran of database giant Informix software (now a division of IBM), he has extensive experience with complex SQL query design and optimization.

As architect of the StageOne™ rapid development platform for ColdFusion-based eBusiness and eMarketing applications, Chester has been responsible for the design of over a dozen major ColdFusion applications, including Customer Relationship Management, Sales Force Automation, Content Management, Email Campaign Management, and Project Management.

Chester was the application architect for the Applied Materials iMarketing intranet, a million-dollar project that for over five years has fulfilled marketing content management and interdivisional communication needs for over 1000 marketing professionals and executives worldwide. He also served for over four years as application architect for the Harmonic Inc. worldwide web site, extranet, and eMarketing tools. His experience includes the design and deployment of CMS and CRM systems for dozens of mid-size businesses and startups, including a high-volume, high-availability, load-balanced 3-tier shopping cart.

Prior to Specific Impulse Chester was Senior Product Manager for Media Asset and Content Management with Informix Software. Prior to Informix, he served for six years as product manager, worldwide marketing manager, and product support supervisor for Bio-Rad Laboratories.

In 1986 Chester founded UMANS, a company that designed and built systems for biomedical research.  Chester supported UMANS installations on three continents before selling the product to Bio-Rad in 1991. Chester holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from UC Berkeley and a BA in Physics and Integrated Science from Northwestern University.
