Information architecture for the Verizon community
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), a Dow 30 company, is a leader in delivering broadband and other wireline and wireless communication innovations to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers. Based in New York, Verizon has a diverse workforce of more than 252,000 and generates annual consolidated operating revenues of approximately $90 billion.
The Challenge Verizon needed a dynamic, community-oriented broadband portal to highlight exciting new releases from Verizon's world-class online partners. The site needed to feature movies, music, television, games, and video, as well as the hottest online communities. The experience needed to be dynamic, hip, and attention-grabbing, delivering lots of eye-catching content for diverse audiences across a wide range of media, while remaining logically-structured and user-friendly. The Solution Verizon, through its agency Questus and partner Crimson Consulting, selected the Specific Impulse information architecture team (Rich Julius, Molly Wright-Steenson, and Margo Hays) to develop a rich, community-centric information architecture for their new Verizon Surround media and gaming portal (http://surround.verizon.net).
Building on a solid foundation of audience analysis, content analysis, and user personas, the team delivered wireframes and designs that define the underlying Verizon Surround experience.
